After 27 years of test-driving and racing cars as a hobby, furniture manufacturer Mark Nemschoff turned his attention to world-class boat racing in 1995. Mark’s first event was the Mille Miglia del Mediterraneo Rimini-Viareggio, a 1,000 mile non-stop endurance power boat race around Italy. Mark led the Kohler Power Systems Team, which included his son Paul, to a first-place finish in the P-1 class and third overall.

In the summer of that year, Mark and the team set a new speed and endurance record in the 620-statute mile Chicago/Detroit Challenge, from Chicago's Navy Pier to Detroit's Hart Park. In a non-stop run of 8 hours, 10 minutes 47 seconds, they swamped the record of 12 hours, 8 minutes and 42 seconds set in 1990 by actor Chuck Norris’ team.

On December 27, 1995, Nemschoff completed the Tampa-Miami Suncoast to Gold Coast Victory Cup Challenge in 4 hours, 5 minutes and 45 seconds, breaking the old record of 6 hours, 42 minutes and 41 seconds set in 1994 by NASCAR driver Kyle Petty.

Mark then turned to racing on both the APBA and SBI circuits. With Mark on the throttles and Paul behind the wheel they proceeded to win four world championships, two national championships and many races. Mark has continued to set additional speed and endurance records and in 1998 was inducted into the APBA Hall of Champions.

Nemschoff is a shareholder in APBA-Offshore, the premier sanctioning organization for powerboat racing in the United States and continues to be a top competitor in the Super Cat class with the #41 'Tommy Bahama'.

Nemschoff is president and CEO of Nemschoff Chairs, Inc., of Sheboygan Wisconsin, the leading manufacturer of furniture for the health care marketplace. Before joining the family business, Nemschoff, who has a degree in mechanical design engineering from the University of Wisconsin, was an engineer with FMC Corporation.

Nemschoff and his wife K.C. are active in the Sheboygan community and he serves on a number of industry and civic boards. Son Paul lives in Manhattan Beach, California, and daughter Amy lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
